Key dates for practices in 2016/17

There are a number of key deadlines for practices in England if they are to receive correct payments for enhanced services and immunisations.

Throughout the financial year there are many deadlines and dates related to payments for enhanced services (ES) and immunisations in England. These are the dates of which you need to keep track, going forward.

June

Monthly review of all patients on the at-risk register and of all unplanned admissions and readmissions.

Monthly vaccination report via CQRS for the previous month

30 June:
Ensure that your practices is signed up to the unplanned admissions enhanced service if you want to provide this

July - Q2 starts

Monthly review of all patients on the at-risk register and of all unplanned admissions and re-admissions.

Monthly vaccination report via CQRS.

15 July:
Deadline for submission of the April-June quarterly monitoring form for the extended hours ES. 

Quarterly minor surgery and learning disabilities ES return.

31 July:
Practices should receive payment for component one of the unplanned admissions ES (£1.33 per patient).

August

Monthly review of all patients on the at-risk register and of all unplanned admissions and re-admissions.

Monthly vaccination report via CQRS.

September

Monthly review of all patients on the at-risk register and of all unplanned admissions and re-admissions.

Check the at-risk register of patients for the unplanned admissions ES and make sure it is 2% of the practice's registered adult patients (aged 18 and over). Practices must have a minimum of 1.8% of patients on the register at 30 September 2016 as a proportion of the list size on 1 April 2016 for the component two payment.

October - Q3 starts

Monthly vaccination report via CQRS.

Monthly review of all patients on the at-risk register and of all unplanned admissions and re-admissions.

15 October:
Deadline for submission of July-September quarterly monitoring form for the extended hours ES.

Quarterly minor surgery and learning disabilities ES return.

31 October:
Submission of reporting template for unplanned admission - download template here.

November

Monthly review of all patients on the at-risk register and of all unplanned admissions and re-admissions.

Monthly vaccination report via CQRS

30 November:
Practices should receive payment for component 2 payment of the unplanned admissions ES (77p per patient).

December

Monthly review of all patients on the at-risk register and of all unplanned admissions and re-admissions.

2016/17 contract guidance suggests practices may be required to implement arrangements for identifying patients with European Health Insurance (EHIC), S1 or S2 forms in December 2016. This will probably be done through patient self-declaration at the point of registration, but details are still to be confirmed.

January - Q4 starts

15 January:
Deadline for submission of October-December quarterly monitoring form for the extended hours ES.

February

Monthly review of all patients on the at-risk register and of all unplanned admissions and re-admissions

March

Monthly review of all patients on the at risk register and of all unplanned admissions and re-admissions.

Check the at-risk register of patients for the unplanned admissions ES and make sure it is 2% of the practice's registered adult patients (aged 18 and over). Publish details of GP earnings for 2015/16 on website by now.

10% of patients should be using one or more online service by now and 80% of repeat prescriptions should be via EPS2 - although these are not contractual requirements.

April

15 April:
Deadline for submission of January-March quarterly monitoring form for the extended hours ES.
