Conference: What changes to the NHS pension will mean for GPs

A one-day event aiming to provide clarity for GPs struggling to update their pensions and retirement plans following controversial changes to the NHS scheme.

This is the first GP conference on pensions, taking place on Thursday 15 September in Hammersmith, west London.

Hosted by chairman of the BMA’s Pensions Committee Dr Andrew Dearden, the event will bring together experts in the field to ensure that all of your questions can be answered.

During the day you will hear best-practice advice on how the changes to GPs’ pension tax relief will work; the Hutton Report and what it means for GPs; and how increasing the retirement age to 68 will affect you and your career.

Speakers will also update you on the current state of negotiations between the BMA and NHS employers, as well as advising how 24-hour retirement works and whether it might be viable for you.

The expert speakers include Stephen Capps, director of medical specialist accountants Ramsay Brown and Partners, Liz Willis, managing director of The Liz Willis Practice, and Deborah Wood, vice chair of the Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants (AISMA).
