Depression (DEP) QOF tips

Tips for improving QOF scores in this area and current indicators for 2013/14.

Tips for improving achievement

Emer O'Neill, chief executive of Depression Alliance, says it is important that people with depression 'aren’t just left'.

'They have to be followed up,' she says. 'People with depression often lose motivation, so it is important that they get a call from the surgery to make sure they are well. GPs or practice nurses need to make sure that they are followed up. If they don’t hear from someone, they cannot assume that they are OK.’

The Depression Alliance provides a range of service to assist people affected by depression. These include a national network of self-help groups and a range of leaflets, publications and posters. Details are available from the Depression Alliance website.
