Enhanced service payments for 2019/20

Payment information for this year's enhanced services.

Changes for 2019/20


  • There is a new network contract DES, under which practices will receive a direct payment for taking part in the scheme. All other funding for the DES will be paid to the network lead providers. The DES comes into effect on 1 July 2019
  • From 1 July 2019, the extended hours access DES will become part of the network contract DES. The associated funding will move to the network contract DES and be paid to the lead practice for the whole network. The network will be required to deliver 100% coverage of extended hours.

Extended hours access

To continue until 30 June 2019, after which time funding transfers to the network contract DES. See below.

  • £1.90 per patient.

Learning disabilities

To continue for another year until 31 March 2020.

  • £140 for each patient aged 14 and over on the practice’s learning disabilities register who receives a compliant health check.

Network contract DES

  • Practices will be paid £1.761 per weighted patient for signing up to the DES by 1 July 2019. This will be paid in montly installments from July onwards. All other funding that forms part of the DES is paid to the network lead provider. See here for more details
